Recipe testing, a snackable cake, currently reading...

I’ve had one of those days where it’s been slow going. If I asked myself what I’ve achieved I might be hard pressed to answer. Instead, I just seemed to be daydreaming. I’m working on building two edible garden beds, so my imagination is roaming there. Now that we’re in California I could pretty much grow all year around. I’d like to grow gorgeous produce like these sweet, crisp snap peas I put in a risotto last week. Lots of leafy greens, herbs galore, tomatoes of course, and edible flowers. Lime trees! I want to get lost in a garden.

Reading

An article on Joan Didion reflecting on storytelling, the words and facing rejection.

Watching

This documentary on Miles Davis. Then listening to his music while I work. Including the later stuff that true Miles fans hate but I’m not ashamed to say I still love Human Nature.

Coveting

Can’t wait to be free again, so I can start to learn how to make ceramics like this beauty.

Wondering

What is going through Marilyn’s head in this photo captured by Bruce Davidson.

Baking

As promised, I’m baking my S’Mores Cakes. I hope you love them as much as my clan does and that they pick your spirits up.
